Want to know where you can find the secret swings in Malibu? Are these adult swings as romantic as it looks? We’ll answer all this and more. Whether you’re looking for a unique date spot or just something fun to do, the secret swings in Malibu won’t disappoint.
In our latest post, we’ll spill the beans on where you can find the Malibu secret swings — a spot where the only sound you’ll hear is crashing waves (rather than screaming children). Hmm, sounds like our kind of spot. We’ll give you some insider tips on easily finding these secret swings, tucked away among Malibu’s most exclusive beachfront property.
Breakfast Along Your Journey To The Secret Swings In Malibu
You might be in a rush to hit the playground for your Instagram dreams. But we think it’s worth making this a full road trip experience by starting your day early with some breakfast from The Country Kitchen. The hole-in-the wall burrito and burger joint doesn’t look like much from the outside. But the roadside stand typically has a long line for a good reason — it’s delicious breakfast burrito. We suggest getting their popular egg, bacon and cheese burrito, adding avocado for the extra kick.
This roadside stand is polar opposite to all the glitz and glam of Malibu. But if you’re looking for something that’s delicious and inexpensive, you’ve found your spot. Besides, you’ll likely be in workout clothes anyway for the hike to the swings. The Country Kitchen is located alongside the Pacific Coast Highway and across from the beach, making it a popular spot for surfers. During non-pandemic times, there is picnic bench seating available out front. We ended up just eating our burrito on the rooftop of our car. Clearly, this isn’t a meal at Nobu Malibu!
Step-By-Step: Finding The Secret Swings In Malibu: Adult Swings For The Young At Heart
My husband Kevin and I just couldn’t believe that the secret swings in Malibu were located on Carbon Beach, commonly known in these parts as “Billionaire’s Beach.” This 1.5 mile stretch of sand is home to some of the world’s wealthiest and most famous people.
To get to the start of this walk, plug in the address to the public access gate of Carbon Beach: 22150 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA.
We arrived on a Saturday morning, and had no issues finding a place to park. In fact, we parked right outside the gate.
Before you head through the gates, we highly recommend checking out the fake parking garage doors located directly to the left of the gate. Back in 2002, media mogul David Geffen filed a lawsuit to keep people away from accessing the beach here. Annoyed with visitors parking in front of his fancy house, he even built four fake garage doors and removed the curb out front. How can you tell it’s fake? Take a close look at the sides of the garage doors, completely sealed off on all sides.
Hiking To the Ultimate Adult Swings
Once you walk through the public entrance to Carbon Beach, you’ll want to take an immediate left, walking with the ocean on your right side and the multi-million dollar homes on your left.
You’ll have a hard time knowing where to look exactly — watching the ocean waves crash next to you or at the stunning homes that look more like art galleries. Carbon Beach is exclusive to say the least, but completely accessible to the public despite efforts over the years to stop people from coming here. The spot is literally a list of who’s who in entertainment with residents including celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, David Arquette and Courtney Cox and dot com moguls like Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, who at one point owned 15 properties here. Can you imagine? Even if we hit the lottery, I think we’d have a tough time getting the downpayment for one home here.
After hiking along the beach for about 15 minutes, you’ll arrive at the secret swings in Malibu. The swing set hangs beneath one of the beachfront homes. You really can’t miss it. You’ll know you’ve gone too far when you arrive at the house that looks like straight out of Hobbiton.
There was barely anyone on the beach on the day we visited. We started our hike at 9:30 AM on a Saturday. We saw a few guys fishing and a surfer in the distance. Beyond that, there was nobody. We loved our time on the swings — a fun and romantic way to spend our Saturday morning watching the waves crash in front of us.
What an incredible day! After walking back to your car, you’ll be ready to relax. Or maybe explore more of Malibu.
