Who are the Adventuring Dads? We’re glad you asked!
My name is Phil and my husband is Kevin. We live in Los Angeles and in July 2020 we officially became dads of twins. One boy and one girl. And yes, we’re ready for our lives to become complete chaos!
Let’s face it, there is no such thing as an “oopsie” baby when it comes to two guys having kids. We certainly didn’t get here overnight. After 15 years of dragging our feet — i.e. Phil stalling in fear that our social lives would end forever — we eventually began the surrogacy process in early 2019. That year marked a major change in our lives after losing a dear family member to pancreatic cancer. It was the kick in our pants that made us realize that we aren’t getting any younger (shh, don’t remind Kevin) and the importance of our family and friends being part of this journey.
Adventuring Dads is a blog dedicated to life’s many adventures — from travels across the country and around the world to everyday adventures that all parents can identify with. Beyond this blog, our stories and photos have been featured in the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and Wall Street Journal as well as in such magazines as Lonely Planet and Westways. In 2016, we launched Gourmet Globetrotter, a blog dedicated to the best food and travel experiences around the world.
Our goal with Adventuring Dads is to not only entertain but share our knowledge on becoming parents. We hope our site serves as a resource for those going through the surrogacy process, whether you’re LGBT parents or anyone struggling to have a child of your own. We know how confusing it all can be, and have carefully culled the most useful information under our Parenting Resources section.
Thank you for stopping by. And as always, we love to hear from our readers. Go to our contact page and drop us a line!
